I have an older Panasonic flat screen, MacBook Pro late 2011, 10.7.5 software, apple tv, iPhone 5s and kindle hdx. Is there any other way to force the display onto the HDMI, e.g. I'd like to use it with an external HDMI display, but of course I can't see anything on the screen to get to the display preferences and set up mirroring. I have a Macbook Air with a dead display (the hinge has broken and damaged the cable that runs through it.)
